A Proposal on a Boeing 747

Me  and Fraser met in a nightclub in Bradford City Centre. He was Dj’in at the time and I looked over and instantly asked my friend what his name was and if he was single!! Strangely enough, Fraser had asked my friend the same question about me minutes before! He went off to another DJ set and we found each other on trusty Facebook.. After a few messages we met up again for a ‘night out’ and I knew then he was the one! This was May 2009; we will have been together ten years this year.

The proposal story| For my 30th birthday we booked a holiday to Mexico! We travelled on the 1st March 2015. We had been on the flight roughly 10 hours, I had been moaning at Fraser to turn the navigation map off the TV screen as the flight had been dragging. He just kept saying he wanted to know when we was going to be flying over Miami.. I did not think anything of it!

Fraser turned the map off and said he was going for a quick toilet trip just before we land.. With my headphones in watching a film, the film paused and the TV stated ‘ANNOUCMENT IN PROGRESS’ an air hostess asked for Fay Bateman to please come to the foyer.

I panicked as I thought something had happened, that he was sick. I got to the front of the plane as fast I could, to where I saw Fraser stood with the tannoy phone in his hand. The whole plane sat staring in silence… He went onto to say a beautiful speech and then got down on one knee and popped the question! I said YES and he put the gorgeous ring on my finger!

The full Boeing 747 clapped and cheered! The air hostess instantly passed us a bottle of champagne which we popped! We sat back down on the flight with just about 15 minutes left to go and I cried my eyes out!!

The wedding planning| I loved planning our wedding!! I knew exactly what theme I wanted, I wanted a timeless and classic theme and had a pinterest album full.
The planning was left to me which I was happy about apart from his suit and the music which he wanted to organise.

The venue| The venue was at The Halfway House, Baildon. I lived in Baildon when I was younger and my parents still do. I had been to the Halfway house Bar and Restaurant many of times but I had never been into the Function suite. When I walked in with my mum I instantly knew it was where I wanted our wedding! The white drapes, marquee feel with twinkle lights all over was what I had dreamt of and it was also local to all my friends and family which meant a lot to me so they could be there on the big day.

What type of ceremony did you have?| Our 101 guests were waiting at the Halfway house for us while we had our ceremony at Bradford Register Office at City Hall. We had a very small intimate ceremony with 11 guests including ourselves. We wanted our vows to be very personal with only our babies and immediate family there; once we had our ceremony we then went straight to the halfway house to meet our guests! The feeling of walking into that room was one of my happiest moments of the day seeing all our friends and family as husband and wife.

Finding the dress| I purchased my dress from, Elite Bridal in Huddersfield. It was the second shop I looked in. I was with my mum and the shop assistant asked me to choose five dresses to try on. I chose four very fitted  backless dresses and then picked one princess dress to make the number up! The princess dress was the one and I said YES to the dress!

Morning of the wedding| My morning felt very relaxed, me and my bridesmaids got ready at my house so I felt very comfortable been in my own surroundings. My make-up artist and hairdresser came in the morning and we started leisurely getting ready with breakfast from the local deli and prosecco of course!

Fraser had his suit tailored made from Moss Brothers, we visited the store and he chose the fabric, the material for the lining, the colour of the stitching, everything down to the buttons. He had two best men, his older brother and dad. He was very nervous on the lead up to the wedding but then actually on the big day he was fine. We didnt get each other gift, we made a pact not to get each other anything we said us getting married to each other was our present.

Most memorable part of the day| It has to be walking into the room at The Halfway House with one of our favourite songs on and seeing all our friends and family.

Did you have a honeymoon?| We went to Paphos in Cyprus seven  days after the wedding with our babies and grandparents too!

Any advice for future brides & Grooms|
I would recommend getting a videographer for the full day and night and enjoy every single second!!!
